Danish Artists Les Deux Garçon...

Make the most amazing work!  I first saw their work when I was in Miami for Superfine! two years ago and I snuck off to one of the other fairs.  There was so much great work, and so much to be inspired by...but you know when you come upon something and you lose your breath for a minute?  And then your hair stands up on end?  That was this work.  I bought the catalog before I even finished looking at what was on the wall.

I love how whimsical they are, but yet I also sense some melancholy.  Have a look at their website...they work in many mediums beyond taxidermy...but these are my favorites!

"Pulling Stitches" exhibition at Hutchinson Center for the Arts....

went up yesterday.  There is some brand new work, work from the fall, and work from way back, but I am happy to see it all together.  The install was easy (Thanks, Lisa!) and the space is fabulous.  My reception is June 29 from 5-6:30 pm and the exhibition closes on July 7.  I am not going to make it back up before the reception, but our plan is to stay overnight, get good documentation and maybe play at the Science Museum in St. Paul before getting Thai food and heading home.

So happy to have the Kangaroo standing again.  And the sloth is on his tippy toes.  The air was not keeping up, so Lisa promised to light all the work today.  I am so relieved to have it up!

I can't even....

believe how beautiful, haunting, sweet, evocative and completely mesmerizing this work is.  Annie Montgomerie is an artist I discovered while googling the term "taxidermy sculpture." These animals are just amazing, and the photographs are such loving little portraits of these creatures.  When I think about photographing my dolls, these are the qualities I hope to evoke.  Check out both her website and Facebook page..I am going to start watching her Etsy shop...I hear her work goes fast.
