She plays with all sorts of different joints...ball, bead, thread....they are really quite ethereal.

figures. I have been mooning over them for months now and I finally screwed up the courage to order some supplies. I should get them with still a few more days at Starry Night to start playing. I have been looking at this tutorial on deviantart.com.....
And found these wonderful images by Alana Cora.
These last two are not ball jointed, but they are really lovely. Wish me luck!
and nearly have four new sewing dolls complete-ish, I will have to raid my limbs pile when I get home as I didn't bring enough tools with me to make limbs for all the bodies. I've been thinking for quite some time about accessories for the sewing dolls that might make an environment for photographs. Yesterday I finished a table top. It is paperclay, and the frame and legs are portions of this really great folding ruler I found at a thrift shop earlier this summer. You can see the legs next to it. I will wait to assemble it until I get home as it will be easier to ship in pieces.
A wardrobe with drawers, suitcase, sewing machine and an ironing board are all in the works as well.
My 3-Dimenisonal Design class ended the semester on a beautiful day with our inflatables project. The students mostly worked in groups, and had to create something that was at least ten feet in one direction. This are some of the results.
I finished this piece today!
except for a tab system I am going to have to add to the back to hang it from when I get home. Each square is 3x3 inches and has hook and eyes on all sides that will link in to the hook or eye of the one next to it, so they will all be attached. Some squares are just the painted pattern paper...some with masses of eyes sewn on, and most with masses of eyes as well as hair like thread masses on top. I can't tell you how excited I am about this piece! The picture is terrible, but all I can do here with my iPhone in my studio. I should have installation shots to show later in July when I bribe my husband. I hope you will come back and look at it then!
And I lap swam in an outdoor pool under the sun this morning. It was glorious.
Is unit B for the next couple of weeks. It is fabulous. Comfortable bed, gas stove, great air conditioner. It gets hot here. This is the piece I am working on. I had hoped I would have it done before I got here, but I think it is only halfway there. These always take longer than I anticipate. I am looking forward to catching up on Rectify on Netflix while I work.
Well, it has been quite a while since I have posted. Much has changed....a new orange tabby with digestive issues, school finished and I am in New Mexico at Starry Night Retreat, which is one of the best things that has ever happened. I just came in from an hour walk in the desert. There is nothing like this sky., I am so lucky to be here.
